At Yorkshire Eyewear, we’ve long been proud to say that our very own Karen Haase is a published author.
Her book, Over the Fence, co-written with Yorkshire Eyewear patient Julie Martin Jones, was originally released in 2024 - a huge achievement that we were thrilled to celebrate at the time. Seeing Karen step from the dispensing desk into the world of publishing was (and still is) incredibly inspiring.
And now, there’s another exciting chapter to share…
Last week, the Over the Fence audiobook was officially released on Audible!
What began as a shared idea between a dispensing optician and a patient has grown into a story that can now be experienced in an entirely new way - through sound. It’s a fantastic milestone and a testament to the power of collaboration, creativity and community, with narrators being Yorkshire Eyewear's Meg Lazenby, and patient Jane Ingleby !
Writing a book might seem worlds away from optics, but both roles are rooted in empathy, listening and understanding people’s stories. This journey - from practice to publication, and now to audiobook release - shows just how multifaceted our team truly is.
We’re incredibly proud to see Karen and Julie’s work continue to reach new audiences nearly two years on from its original publication.
