OCT Exams
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) — often simply called OCT — is an advanced imaging technology that enables us to capture highly detailed, cross-sectional scans of the back of your eye. This allows us to view the different layers of the retina and optic nerve in remarkable detail, far beyond what can be seen with standard examination methods.
Why should I get an OCT?
By using OCT, we can often detect early signs of eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease up to three years earlier than with traditional techniques. The scan also allows us to compare precise measurements and images over time, helping us monitor even the smallest changes to your eye health between visits.

The procedure is quick, completely painless, and provides instant results that your optometrist will review and explain to you during your appointment.
When scheduling your next eye examination, please request the OCT scan in advance, as we’ll need to allocate extra time for this part of the assessment.

Please note that OCT imaging is not included in a routine or NHS eye examination and will incur an additional fee. It is included as part of our Y.E.S plan.
