Yorkshire Eyewear, which has opticians practices in Goole, Snaith, Howden and Knaresborough is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted in two national awards.

As part of the AOP (Association of Optometrists) Awards 2015, Yorkshire Eyewear’s marketing initiative, ‘Bridal Eyewear by Karen Louise’ has been selected from a large number of high calibre candidates in the ‘Marketing Campaign of the Year’ category; and their Howden branch has been shortlisted in the ‘Young Practice of the Year’ category. The winners will be revealed at a black tie gala dinner at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham on 5th November 2015 during the National Optical Conference.

The AOP awards were established by the leading optometry membership organisation in the UK to celebrate the achievements of opticians who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Owner, Garrey Haase said “I’m so delighted that we have been recognised in both of these very different award categories by our professional body. We have endeavoured to make our Howden practice a place that is recognised for its’ excellent clinical standards and provision of a professional, friendly, optical service to the Howdenshire community.”

Garrey continues; “Bridal Eyewear is aimed at educating the spectacle wearing population to think of their eyewear a bit differently and that their glasses are ‘more than just for visual correction’;”

Karen Haase, Garrey’s wife and business partner continued; “Brides now have the option of wearing some really special glasses down the aisle rather than going down it in a blur. Or for that special awards dinner you’re off to you can decide on an alternative lighter framed pair of specs – you don’t have to wear your everyday ones every day!”

“We also offer a complete bespoke service so ladies can have their glasses enhanced to completely match the occasion”.

“Bridal Eyewear” has also been nominated for a “Mumpreneur” award. The Mumpreneur conference and awards were started in 2009 and 2010 respectively by two Mums who ran their own businesses and who felt that support was needed for other parents who are juggling family life with starting and running a business.

This is something very familiar to the husband and wife team at Yorkshire Eyewear, as Karen Haase explains: “We’ve got four children – so good childcare and back up plans are essential. It is hard work, but we both love helping people to look after the health of their eyes and so it‘s very rewarding.”

Yorkshire Eyewear is also being featured in the August edition of “Dispensing Optics” – the official magazine of ABDO – the Association of British Dispensing Opticians. Voting is now open and will remain open until midnight on 20th September 2015.
